How retries are handled

Superset uses Stripe’s global payment infrastructure to process and retry payments. Stripe decides the timing of each attempt within the retry window. You can also update or re-enter a card anytime to trigger an immediate retry.

Payment retry timeline

  • 8 attempts over 3 weeks — Stripe will automatically retry failed payments during this period.

  • Coaches — If your subscription payment fails, you lose access to editing inside the creator dashboard until your card is updated and your subscription is active again. You can update your card under Account → Billing.

  • Consumers — If a client’s membership payment fails, they keep access until the final retry in week 3. After that, they’ll see a message asking them to update their payment method.

Failed payments

Payments can fail for several reasons:

  • Insufficient funds

  • Card or bank restrictions (e.g., fraud checks or blocks)

  • Incorrect or expired card details

If a payment isn’t going through, updating the card on file usually fixes it. In some cases, you may need to contact your bank or card provider to lift a block. See here for a full list of reasons why Stripe may decline a payment.
