How to run group sessions on iPad

Run semi-private or small group sessions on iPad with Coach mode, and lock the app to one client on a shared device

Available on the Business and Enterprise plans.

This is a Coach-mode workflow on iPad that lets you start and manage multiple clients’ sessions at once.

Find it in Superset (iPad)Coach modeClients.

Follow these steps

  1. Open Superset on your iPad and switch to Coach mode.

  2. Go to Clients to open your client list.

  3. Tap Create session (bottom-right).

  4. Select the clients you’re training in this semi-private/small group session.

  5. Tap Start.

  6. In the session page, view each client’s program and start/control clients independently (even while everyone is training at the same time).

  7. To add another client mid-session, go Back → select the new client → Resume the workout.

Notes & best practices

  • You can run a true “mixed-program” group: clients may follow different programs while you control each session individually.

  • Start clients when they’re ready - no need to sync everyone to the same exact moment.

  • If you step back to add someone, you won’t lose the session - just Resume after selecting the new client.

Lock Mode: pin the app to one client

On a shared device that gets passed between clients, Lock Mode pins Superset to a single client. Switching to anyone else then needs FaceID, TouchID, or the device passcode.

It's most useful on a shared tablet on the gym floor, though it works on any device you're signed in on.

  1. Make sure the device has a passcode set. Lock Mode can’t be turned on without one.

  2. Open the client you want to lock to.

  3. Turn on Lock Mode and authenticate when prompted.

  4. To switch clients, choose Unlock and authenticate again.

Lock Mode notes

  • A device passcode is required. Without one you’ll see “Lock Mode can’t be enabled until a device passcode is set.” Set one in the device’s own settings first.

  • Anyone who knows the device passcode can unlock it. On a shared tablet, keep the passcode with staff rather than posting it nearby.

  • Lock Mode applies to the device you turn it on for. It doesn’t lock any other device signed in to the same account.

  • It stops someone picking up the tablet and browsing. It isn’t a replacement for signing out at the end of the day.
