How to create and manage discounts

Create percentage discounts for one-time offers at checkout — enabled by the Superset team on request

Written by Agatha Beise

Discounts let you take a percentage off a one-time offer at checkout. Use them for launch pricing, win-backs, or a one-off deal for a specific client.

Getting discounts turned on

Discounts are enabled by the Superset team. Email [email protected] and ask to have them turned on for your account. Once enabled, you'll find them under Plans > Discounts.

Creating a discount

  1. Open Plans and go to Discounts.

  2. Choose Create a discount.

  3. Give the discount a name. This is what appears on the offer, so make it something a client will understand.

  4. Set the Discount %.

  5. Save. The discount is now available to apply to one-time offers at checkout.

Notes & best practices

  • Discounts are percentage-based and apply to one-time offers. They aren't a recurring subscription discount.

  • There's an approval threshold. Above a set percentage, a discount needs an admin or director to approve it. If you're a manager and hit that limit, you'll see a discount request rather than an immediate discount.

  • The discount name and the percentage both show on the offer the client sees, so avoid internal shorthand.

  • Archive discounts you no longer offer instead of deleting them, so past offers keep their history.

FAQ

I don't see Discounts under Plans. Why?

Discounts are enabled per account. Email [email protected] to have them turned on.

Can I create a fixed-amount discount?

No. Discounts are percentage-based.

Why does my discount need approval?

Discounts above a set percentage need an admin or director to sign off. This threshold is set for your account.

Can I apply a discount to a recurring plan?

Discounts apply to one-time offers at checkout. For ongoing pricing, set up a payment plan at the price you want.
