What notifications Superset sends

A full list of every notification Superset sends to coaches and clients, when they fire, and on which channel

Superset sends notifications through three channels: push (mobile app), email (inbox), and SMS (coaches only – clients never get SMS). Each notification has a fixed set of channels available, some support all three, others are push-only or email-only.

By default, you receive each notification on every channel available for it. Once you customize a notification in your settings, you'll pick one channel. The tables below show which channels each notification supports.

Notes & best practices

  • Push-only notifications have no email backup. If you turn off push, you won't be notified at all. For clients, this includes payment failed, subscription past due, session marked completed, daily habit reminder, and new comments on workouts. For coaches, this includes your Superset subscription being past due.

  • SMS only works for US phone numbers (+1) that pass validation. If you're outside the US, SMS won't be available even if you select it.

  • Recurring check-ins may take up to 10 minutes to send after their scheduled time.

  • Program edits are batched. If you make several edits to a program in a row, clients only get one notification – not one per edit.

  • Birthday reminders don't send notifications. They only show up in your Inbox.

  • Inbox events aren't always notifications. Many things appear in the feed without sending push, email, or SMS.

FAQ

What's the difference between an Inbox event and a notification?

Inbox events appear in the feed inside Superset. Notifications are alerts sent to push, email, or SMS. Some Inbox events also send notifications, but not all of them do.

Why didn't I get a notification I expected?

Most likely the channel is off in your settings, or the notification is push-only and push is disabled. Check How to manage notifications.

Can clients get SMS notifications?

No. SMS is only available for coaches with a valid US phone number.

Who do I contact if a notification is still missing after checking my settings?

Reach out to Superset support and include the notification type, whether you're a coach or client, and which channel you expected it on.
