How to program in watts

Add a Watts column in Superset Sheets to program bikes, rowers, and ski ergs, and track power in exercise history

Written by Agatha Beise

The Watts column lets you prescribe power the way you already prescribe load, and your client logs it in the app the same way they log a lift.

Follow these steps

  1. Open a program in Superset Sheets.

  2. Open the side drawer and go to Settings.

  3. Under Show or hide columns, turn on Watts.

  4. Type the target into the Watts cell on any exercise row.

  5. Your client sees the target in the app and logs the watts they actually hit.

💡 Tip: You can leave the unit off. `150`, `150w`, and `150watts` all save as 150.

How to write a watts target

What you type

What it saves as

150

150

150-200 or 150 to 200

150-200

150,175,200

150, 175, 200 (one value per set)

250.5

250.5

Anything that is not a number clears the cell. Type `abc` and the cell empties rather than saving a value your client cannot act on.

Notes & best practices

  • Use Watts instead of Weight on a row, not alongside it. If a row has both columns assigned, only weight is tracked.

  • Exercise history holds both. A client who has logged weight on an exercise sees Heaviest lift. One who has logged watts sees Best power.

  • The Weight | Watts switcher appears only when both were actually recorded. Assigning both columns is not enough. If your client has only ever logged weight on an exercise, there is nothing behind a Watts tab, so it stays hidden.

  • Watts works on any exercise row, but it earns its place on machines that report power: bikes, rowers, ski ergs, and air runners.

FAQ

Can I program weight and watts on the same exercise?

You can turn both columns on, but only weight will be tracked. Pick the one that matches how the exercise is measured.

Can I prescribe a range instead of a single number?

Yes. Type `150-200` or `150 to 200` and it saves as a range. To vary it per set, separate the values with commas.

My client says they cannot see the watts target. What happened?

They are on an older version of the app. Watts reaches the client app from a recent build onward, and until they update they see the weight column instead.

Where does my client find their best power?

In exercise history, under Best power. If they have logged both weight and watts on that exercise, they can switch between Weight and Watts to see each one's record and chart.
